Club
Information
We
have a very informal club, where members, their guests and complete
strangers are welcome to come along to club meetings and rallies.
What I do need to say is anyone that is into
“nighthawking”
or any other type of illegal detecting will not be welcome !
We wish to encourage the use of responsible detecting and voluntarily
using the Portable Antiquities Scheme, so that the history of finds is
available to all to appreciate.
As a club we meet in North Redditch on the first Monday of each month,
unless this is a Bank Holiday and then we meet on the following Monday.
We book a room in the Abbeydale Working Mens Club, this is on Gibbs
Road. Easiest way to find it is to go to the Abbey Stadium in North
Redditch, drive South towards Redditch Town Centre, at the first
roundabout turn left along Milrace Road. Follow this to the next small
roundabout and turn left down Forge Mill Road. At the end of this road,
turn right and first left down Gibbs Rd. Follow this down to the sharp
right hand bend, just after the bend is the Abbeydale club on the
right. When you go through the main doors ask for the metal detecting
club, we have a private room in the back.
All of our rally sites are found by club members; usually sites where
they are either not finding much, or fields that they have limited
access to, due to crops always being on them. We try and hold a rally
once a month, usually on a Sunday. For this a small charge is made
which we give to the farmer.
Please feel free to come along, bring some finds if you are already
detecting and have a chat over a beer.
